TurkishDepartment of Turkish Education is located within the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education. Currently, 1 Professor, 6 Doctor Lecturers, 1 Lecturer, 1 Research Assistant Doctor and 1 Research Assistant are working full time in the Department of Turkish Education at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Education.
Turkish Teaching Program is a 4-year undergraduate program. The program includes compulsory field knowledge, teaching profession knowledge, general culture and practice courses. Additionally, students also take elective courses.
Turkish Language Teaching Program is designed for students who know well how children learn their native language under different skills; confident in using technology; Having access to the research resources he needs and having problem solving skills; It carries out an education plan to train teachers who respect human rights, democracy and moral values, and who know their duties and responsibilities in the institutions they will work in the future.
The Department of Turkish Education trains Turkish teachers for secondary schools within the Faculty of Education. Graduates of this program receive the title of “Turkish Teacher”. Our graduates are appointed as “Turkish Teachers” in secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. In addition, they can work as faculty members, lecturers and research assistants in the Turkish and Social Sciences Education Departments of the Faculties of Education. Turkish Teachers who graduate from this department are also needed in other fields: They can teach in private educational institutions. They can take on roles such as writing, editing, proofreading, consultancy and management in various media organizations by using their knowledge and experience about Turkish. They can work in educational institutions at home and abroad, archives and museums, world Turkology centers, Yunus Emre cultural centers, Turkish Republics, and private and public organizations affiliated with the Turkish Republics. Our graduates will be able to provide Turkish education to foreigners and Turkish nobles; They will be able to produce solutions to social problems as teachers who can communicate effectively, take social responsibility, internalize national values, respect universal values and have citizenship awareness; With their artistic and cultural competence, they will be equipped to analyze different literary and informative types of products such as novels, stories, poems, screenplays, articles and essays. In this direction, in our department, in accordance with the framework program of Primary Turkish Language Teaching, plans have been made to teach in detail the courses covering Turkish Language, Turkish Literature and Turkish culture, as well as theoretical and applied courses exemplifying the knowledge of methods and techniques on how to teach these courses.
